**Short answer:** Lion's Mane Mushroom UK is an independent information site about one mushroom. We read the human research, grade how strong it is and explain it in plain English for UK readers. We sell nothing, carry no adverts or affiliate links, and take no money, products or favours from supplement companies.

## Why does this site exist?

Search for lion's mane and almost everything you find is written by someone selling it. The claims run well ahead of the evidence, and the evidence itself is hard to judge without reading the studies. We wanted one place that reads them for you, says plainly what is known and what is not, and links to the source for every claim.

## Who is behind it?

The site is written and edited by [Jo Calder](/about/people/jo-calder/), the pen name of its editor. Jo is not a doctor or a mycologist, which is why every health claim here is tied to the study it comes from and graded using a [published method](/about/evidence-grades/). We are looking for a qualified health professional to review the health pages; once one does, their name and qualifications will appear on each page they check.

## How is the site paid for?

By its owner. There is no advertising, no sponsorship, no affiliate links and nothing for sale. If that changes, for example if we ever add links to shops, we will say so at the top of every affected page and explain how it works, and it will never affect what we say about the evidence.

## How do we decide what to write?

We start with the questions UK readers search for, such as dosage, side effects and whether lion's mane helps memory, and answer them from the research. We cover what the evidence does not show as carefully as what it does. Our [editorial policy](/about/editorial-policy/) sets out the rules we follow.

## How can you reach us?
